p. [13] "Regimental Orders Providence 23d June 1778" signed Peabody Lt. Col. [Heitman: 432- Peabody, Stephen (NH) Adj 3d NH 23 Ap-Dec 1775; Major Wyman's NH Militia Rgt July- Dec 1776; Cap Militia 1777; Lt Col 1778-9. "New Hampshire State Papers," vol. VIII: 758- on December 27, 1777, the New Hampshire House voted to appoint Major Stephen Peabody, Lt. Col. to command a Regiment to be raised in New Hampshire for defence of Rhode Island. On March 18, 1779, the officers and soldiers of Colonel Stephen Peabody's Regiment were allowed 8 pence per mile for travel home from Rhode Island. Ibid., p. 823]
