Note
Head and shoulders, to the left. Wearing the eagle of the Society of the Cincinnati on his left lapel. Below the title is a facsimilie signature.

Thomas McKean served in numerous roles during the revolution - member of Congress, voted on behalf of Deleware for the Declaration of Independence, member of the militia during the war from Pennsylvania, served as Chief Justice in Pennsylvania, and later Governor.
There is a second similiar copy of this engraving, of poor quality, which has the engraver's name removed, there is no facsimilie signature, and below the title it reads: "Published by S.C.Atkinson."
The hand colored copy is shown with a single line border, 1/16 and has printed: "H. Quig, Printer" in the bottom right corner below the facsimilie signature.
Thomas McKean was an honorary member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of Pennsylvania, 1897.
