Full figure, standing, body to the left, head to the right, wearing a hat. He holds a drawn sword in his right hand with the tip resting on a cannon. His left hand rests on his waist, with a pistol held in the waistband. The ship's mast is behind him and storm clouds appear on the horizon. Oval with single line border.
The style is slightly satirical, with Jones' face almost clownlike, and the cannon on the ship railing is very small.
Below the title it reads: London, Pub.d Oct. 22, 1779, by Thos. Macklin, No. 1 Lincolns Inn Fields."
