Note
Three-quarter length, to the left, face forward, wearing a hat. Her right hand is lifted upward at the elbow and she is holding a rose. Her left hand and arm rest against her skirt. She wears a triple strand of pearls at her neck. A drapery appears in the background to the right.
Below the title it reads: "From an original picture in possession of her grandson, James W. Beekman, Esp., New York."
The Beekmans were a promanant family in New York in 1789 and Mrs. Beekman was in attendance at George Washington's (First) Inaugural Ball.
