Three quarter length, standing to the left, hands in a muff, and a double strand of pearls forming a headband in her curly hair above the brow. Interior background with gathered drapery with exterior mountain scene to the left.
Below the title it reads: "From an original picture by Copley in possession of J.P.DeWindt, Esq., Newburg."
Mrs. Smith was the only daughter of John and Abigail Adams. Her husband, William Stephens Smith, was am original member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of New York.
