Figures for 31 Aug. note the cause of an increase to be the landing of recruits from Hesse, Hanau, and Brunswick.
"N.B.: Embarked for Charlestown 20th Decr. 1781 including serjts, drumrs., rank & file, 500."
Probably used in preparation for Clinton's defense after Yorktown, or possibly as a handy reference tool for the Adjutant.
