Note
The fort is shown in the distance on a point stretching into the sea. In the foreground are people coming to and from the shore. Cattle are seen on the beach. Rectangle. The title is actually a tribute to Lord George Beauclerck, and reads as follows: "To the Right Honourable Lord George Beauclerck, Colonel of the Nineteenth Regiment of Foot and Governor of Land-Guard Fort in Suffolk. This south east view of the said Fort is most humbly inscribed by his Lordship's dutifull and most obedient humble serv.t, Tho.s Major." Centered inside the title is a royal coat of arms. To the left of the title tribute and below the artist's name it reads: {In the possession of Cap.t: Thicknesse 4 feet 10 inches broad, 2 feet 9 1/2 high.}
