George Clinton, D.S. 8 Aug. 1748, detaling expenses for the use of a sloop and batteau in transporting the governor and men bearing gifts to the Iroquois -- [no. 2]: His Ex.cy the Hono.ble Geo: Clintons Acc.t for charges incurred among the Indians with the Crown including a balance due to him, July - Sept. 1748. Fort George in the City of New York, 1 November 1748 -- [no. 3]: An account of the expences incurred ... by the Hon.ble George Clinton ... on the intended expedition ag.t Canada ... [s.l., ca. Dec. 1748] -- [no. 4]: An abstract of Gov.r Clinton's bills & certificates drawn & granted by him upon acc.t of the Canada Expedition
Expenses in no. 2 include more than 290 pounds paid to Mr. Arent Stevens "for bringing down the Six Nations of Indians & their allies to Albany to a Treaty with Their Excellencies Gov. Clinton & Gov. Shirley. Also more than 1249 pounds paid to Col. William Johsons account "of disbursements to the Six Nations of Indians & their allies ..."
Expenses in no. 3 ( 1 leaf) include more than 87,000 pounds for "Pay of the troops raised & rendevouzed in the Province of New York, furnishing them with provisions & other necessaries, various charges for "preserving & maintaining the Six Nations ... in His Majesty's interest" and over 900 pounds to pay Col. Schuyler as Col. of the five companies raised in New Jersey and Cols. Roberts and Marshall and Majors Rutherford and Clark appointed by Clinton in the Province of New York. On verso: "Extract"
Expenses to be reimbursed include more than 32,948 pounds to be advanced by the govenrnment; those not to be paid total 3770 pounds.
