French's study was accepted in 1939 as a master's essay in the book arts field at the School of library service, Columbia university; Rogers' study, accepted as a master's essay at the same school in 1937, was first printed, in abbreviated form, in the Gutenberg yearbook of 1938--Cf. Foreward.
