Full bust, to front, head to left. Lansdowne Type. Oval, with arabesque oval border. Above, a shield with arms of New York and motto,"Excelsior". Below, a representation of battle of Trenton. On this variation the title "Washington" and publisher and city are missing and the border has been enlarged to an irregular rectangle and plate worked over, particularly the background and the title "J. J. Crew" removed from the field at the bottom.
This is a variation of the illustration in Bartlett's The history of the United State of North America, Vol II., p.3 (frontispiece).
