An English diplomatic document analysing in detail, the political and military options open to Maria Theresa in her future dealings.
Thomas Robinson, 1st Baron Grantham was English Ambassador at the Court of Vienna 1730-48. The accessions of Maria Theresa and Frederick the Great in 1740 threatened changes in the delicate balance of power throughout continental Europe. Robinson reminded Maria Theresa of the services received by her father from England in the Spanish Succession War, with a view to entering an alliance against France; he also had the task of urging upon her the necessity of making concessions to Prussia.
This document attempts to ascertain Maria Theresa's intended course of action, as George II "desires to be throughly informed ...upon the preference she might be inclined to give either to an amicable accommodation with the K. of Prussia, or to concerting of operations for an ensuing campaign ..."
