Caption title: Thr Common Wealth of Pennsylv.a in account with John Crawford Comp.y &c.
Based on dates and references to the enemy occupying Philadelphia, the accounts relate to Crawford's activities during the Valley Forge encampment.
A John Crawford was a member of the Committee of Safety for Bucks County in 1776, appointed for the purpose "of receiving arms of non-associators." see the Pennsylvania Magazine, vol. 15, p. 280.
Entry for 8 May: By goods sold at vendue taken from a person bringing them out of Philad.a when the enemy was in possession ...
Entry for 9 June: To pasturage of a horsee & expences in sale of said horse and a gun delivered to Major McCommon, taken from the enemy on the lines.
At foot of column 1: Jno. Crawford craves the allowance of 29 days himself & horse on expences.
Watermark, partially obscured by mylar and previous fold, may be TMW, one of those used by Thomas M. Wilcox -- see Gravell. American watermarks.
