In an unidentified hand, apparently intended as an official report.
Cover title: Description of the southeast part of England.
Dated at end: London July 1765.
The result of observations made, according to the introduction, "8 or 9 years ago ... before ... the course of the late war [offered] of applying such knowledge...."
Covers not only the historical perspective from the time of Julius Caesar but also the military topography of the area relative to strategic movements and defenses.
Watermark: L Munn -- see Gravell, Foreign watermarks, #90, though the earliest record of the mark on American manuscripts on paper from Lewis Munn's Ford Mill in Kent, England is 1776.
All edges apparently gilt, though bottom edges have suffered water damage which has erased all evidence of gilt there.
