Letter from Carroll's commercial agent in London; Mary Carroll married Charles Carroll, in 1768. She was active in the business affairs of her husband, who was one of leading men of Maryland. Charles Carroll was active in the non-importation proceedings of 1774, became a revolutionary leader, and was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
Molleson was afraid for his business during this time of tumultuous affairs in the colonies, a time when four coercive bills were pending in Parliament, the result of the Boston Tea Party of December 16, 1773.
At the bottom is a 6 line of ms. note by Molleson to Mrs. Carroll concerning the sale of six hogsheads of tobacco delivered by Capt. Bradstreet.
