George Washington, almost full-length, seated in a chair to the right, his head to the left, with his left hand on the arm of the chair and his right hand holding a book against his thigh with a finger marking a place. Martha Washington is seated on a ledge behind George, leaning on his chair. Her left arm is on the back of the chair and her right hand slightly outstretched. Behind Martha to the left in the background are the two grandchildren.
Centered under the engraving between the letters for the painter and the engraver is the copyright information. No printed title is visible.
Framed with gold burnished & silk mats with burgundy mat fillet; 2" 22K gold leaf scoop frame with beading & inner egg & dart design; hand lettered 22k gold leafed plate.
