Note
A recruiting poster. It depicts a uniformed grenedier, labeled 1792, shaking hands with a uniformed grenedier labeled 1915. Between the men is the legend "vers la victoire." In the background is a military encampment in the countryside with soldiers parading in preparation for battle. A decorative 1 1/2" border surrounds the poster. Below the title, arising from the border is a flaming granade surrounded by laural leaves.
This poster was mounted on cardboard backer board and the paper in both has deteriorated significantly. The poster was removed from its frame so it could be better preserved in the prints and engravings files in the vault.
