Drawn up for the instruction of Henry, Prince of Wales by Dallington who was a gentleman of the privy chamber, this book was not published until after Henry dies and was reshaped for Henry's brother Charles.
The first ed. of Dallington's translation omitted a censored piece of Guicciardini's original text which had been edited out by the inquisition. This second ed. includes that expunged section.
