Archbishop Markham of York points to a regiment of his soldiers coming through the "Gate to Preferment,"and praises them to Britannia, who wears a liberty cap. The leader of the soldiers claims they "will wade thro an ocean of Yank'y blood." This cartoon satirizes the support given to the war by the Church of England.
