Docket title. Apparently a retained copy of a statement issued to Smith relating to expenses he incurred in his capacity as Commissary of Prisoners. Included are expenses for both hay and oats for his horses claimed in 1782 and 1783 totalling 48 pounds, 5 shillings, and 11 1/4 pence. The statement also shows payments to Smith authorized by Timothy Pickering, then Quartermaster General for forage on 8 Jan. and 3 April 1783 totalling 26 pounds, 6 shillings, and 9 pence, leaving a ballance of 21.19.2 1/4. At foot of page: I certify on honour that I paid the above rates for keeping my horses being on the advance of the Army and drew no public forage whatever.
