"Whereas the sd Roger Enos is appointed Col. of a Regt. ordered to be raised for the Defence of this ... United States, by the Genl. Assembly in their sessions in Feby. last & PayMaster of a company in sd. Regt. ..." Partially printed document signed, enabling Enos to raise a regiment, of which he is appointed colonel. Witnessed by John Chenward and Fenn Wadsworth. Enos commanded a regiment in Rhode Island in 1777 -- see Connecticut men in the Revolution. Grant served in Enos' regiment in Rhode Island in 1777.
