Note
The original etchings from which these prints are made were commissioned by the George Washington Memorial Association, Inc. to be part of an educational program for school children in conjunction with the celebration of the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of George Washington. A Teachers' Manual, prepared by Dr. Daniel C.Knowlton, of New York University, is filed with the prints and carries accession number 84.1.17.
Each print is titled: "The Bicentennial Pageant of George Washington" at the top, and below is the individual title, along with: "From the original etching by (artist's name), Copyright 1932 The George Washington Memorial Association, Inc." The twenty individual titles and artists are: 1. Washington and his mother, by Arthur William Heintzelman.* 2. Washington, the surveyor's assistant, by Robert Nisbet. 3. Washington on his mission to the Ohio, by Sears Gallagher.* 4. Washington at Braddock's defeat, by Earl Horter. 5. Washington's courtship, by William Aurbach-Levy.* 6. Washington at Pohick Church, by Ernest David Roth. 7. En route to the first Continental Congress, by Eugene Higgins.* 8. Washington assumes command, by Ralph Boyer.* 9.
