In an unidentified hand, probably that of the adjutant of the corps.
Contains routine information such as officers of the day; reports of courts martial (20, 23, and 30 Oct., 2, 7, 9, 11, 13 Nov.); including that of the commander of the regiment (30 Oct.); concern for security and requests for accurate and standardized returns.
Covers the period between the discovery of Arnold's treason and the regiment's march to winter quarters.
Several PA regiments, the 12th MA, [Henry] Bedken's corps, Gist's Artillery, Parr's corps of riflemen, and the Light companies of NH, RI, and NY and NJ are among the units also in camp.
Considerable space given to Congressional resolves relative to promotions, appointments, and to makeup and reorganization of the Army, including foreigners fighting in the Continental Line (19 and 31 Oct.)
On 27 Oct. the General congratulates the Army on the success at King's Mountain, noting the death of Col. Ferguson and the numbers killed or captured on both sides.
Orders for 15 Nov. emphasize the importance of "uniformity of dress" with regard to facings, trim, and linings as well as to the caps and uniforms themselves.
Orders for 16 Nov. report the findings of the Court of Inquiry held at West Point appointed to investigate the behavior of Richard Varick, Arnold's aide-de-camp.
