A note written by Jesse R. Grant, Codington, Ky., June 1st, 1865 is taped to larger sheet. In it, the date of the muster roll is alleged to be 26 March 1775; Noah Grant is identified as the great-grandfather of U. S. Grant. It is probably Capt. Noah Grant of Connecticut, 1748-1819, who is said to have answered the Lexington alarm and served in the army for the duration of the war. He is not listed in either Metcalf or Heitman
