Head and shoulders to the left. Oval.
This is a portrait of Health as an older man, dressed in civilian clothes. Engravings from the same portrait can be seen in P&E L2005G40.62m and P&E L2005G40.249m.
In wooden frame with metal filigree inset, some of which is damaged. In a thick oval mat with gold edge The handcoloring uses white for emphasis on the hair and shirt.
Gift of the sitter's great-great grandson, William C. Heath (MA Society).
In 2007, this portrait was transfered from the Museum collection (M1961.905) to the library to be housed in the P&E collection.
William Heath was an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of Massachusetts.
