Note
Whole length, standing to the left, with right hand resting by the fingers on the end of a tightly rolled scroll on the table to the left. In left hand, a dress sword held to the side with elbow bent, partially covering the edge of the back of the chair behind. The coat is buttoned by a single button at the breast.
This engraving is based on Stuart's Hartford portrait, one of the Lenox type, sometimes referred to as the Tea Pot type. The original portrait is now in the State House in Hartford, Connecticut. It was also engraved by Illman and Pilbrow. J. H. Hills, the engraver of this portrait was a native of Connecticul, although he worked in Vermont.
Framed with gold paper fillet and nutmeg velvet mat; in a 2 1/4," 22 K gold frame with inner beading.
