Note
An allegorical engraving in which Father Time uses a magic lantern to show a picture of a tea pot exploding in the midst of an American army composed of colonists and an Indian. They chase a fleeing British army of yoked soldiers and lion cubs. An Indian ( America), a black woman (Africa), a woman holding a lantern (Asia), and a woman holding a shield and spear (Europe) watch. Centered at the base of the print, amid the title, are two pictures in ovals comparing the American Revolution to Holland's auto da fe (1570) and Switzerland's William Tell (1200).
A second copy, not matted, has the title only in English and the publication date has been removed. This copy is accessioned as 1976.1.642 and housed with P&E L1991.218f.
