"The above account is examined an allowed, and the sum of eighteen pounds twelve shillings is ordered to be paid by the Treasurer of this state accordingly. [signed] Benj. Payne"

Ebenezer Watson, printer and editor of The Connecticut Courant, died on 16 Sept. 1777, leaving his widow in charge of the business. Shortly thereafter, she charged 2 pounds for "composing the Articles of Convention between Gen. Gates & Burgoyne", L1.2.0 for 11 quires of paper for printing them, and 10 shillings for the necessary "press work." On 7 Oct. she charged 18 shillings for "Inserting Messr. Henshaw & Whitings advert. for the observance & continuing the same [for] 3 months."
A second project with the same costs: "composing & fitting for the press an Act for providing for the families of the non-commissioned officers & in the Continental Army" (Oct. 31)
A third project with identical costs: "Composing & fitting for the press Resolve respecting clothing for the soldiers" (Oct. 31)
George Goodwin, a Hartford merchant, became a business partner of Hannah Watson's after her husband's death.
