Bust, to right. Oval upon a pyramidal monument to right of plate. Over oval, a cherubim, and on either side laurel branches. Beneath oval, "G.Washington. There is
Rest
in Heaven" Over monument, a weeping willow. Approaching monument from left, a man and two women, the man and first woman weeping, while second woman supports an anchor and, with her left hand, resting upon the left shoulder of the first woman, points, with the right hand uplifted, to heaven. Enclosed in a circular floriated double border, 12/16, upon which is engraver's name, date and city. Title on tablet at bottom. In a rectangle, engraved to represent brick work, with black outside border. On this variation of #279 in Hart, the outside black border has been increased from 2/16 to 3/16 and the letters in the title have been filled. There is also a shadow cast diagonally across the left side of the base of the monument, just below the word 'Heaven" Other parts of the plate show new work.
