Autograph document in an unidentified hand lists in 5 columns: 76 officers and men; present or absent; reason if absent; by whose order; date departed; and present whereabouts (Norwalk, "ye Jerseys," or East Chester.)
The Battalion was raised in June 1776 to reinforce Washington at New York. It served at the Brooklyn front during the Battle of Long Island (27 Aug.) and retreated from New York (15 Sept.) remaining with the main army at White Plains.
In this company commanded by Capt. Edward Rogers, only 39 men are listed as present at time of return -- between 7 Nov. (the last date mentioned) and 25 Dec. 1776 (when the enlistment period expired).
