Lists by rank 160 officers and men fit for duty, sick, or furloughed. Report notes expectation of "about 100 men in 3 days, and 63 of Col. Halls [ 4th Maryland] Bat. "now in their march ...; 56 Virginians march in 2 days" for a total of 228 expected reenforcements. [Math is suspect.]
Lists without names 2 Lt. colonels, 1 major, 5 captains; 3 [i.e., 4?] lieutenants, 1 ensign, 7 serjeants, 3 drummers & fifters. Totals 69 fit for duty, 10 sick but present; 1 sick absent; 1 on command; 8 on furlough, and 46 under "Enoculation."
The 3rd and 4th Maryland regiments were authorized 16 Sept. 1776 and organized 27 March 1777 to consist of 8 companies each.
Both Gist and Hall were original members of the Maryland Society of the Cincinnati.
