Undated; watermark similar to figure 492 in T. Gravell's Foreign watermarks (1983), used in Delaware in 1755. DSoC version lacks the "M". On p. [14]: Remarks were [sic] the Minerva struck on a shoal in the Downs ... Jany. the 11th or 12th.
At head of p. [[15]: Some remarks with respect to the sounding from the So Foreland to Dunnose
Detailed sailing instructions and navigational data to assist examinees.
Pages [19]-[21]: some particular soundings [from] Ushant [Ile d'Ouessant] to the Edystone by Mr. Thos. Scot, Master of His Majesty's ship Prince.
On p. [19]: Some particular soundings comin round Ushant, & so up to the Edystone by Mr. Tho.s Scot, Master of His Majestys Ship Prince.
Provenance (from bookseller): found among the papers of Captain John Henderson. One John Henderson, probably this one, was for many years Secretary to Admiral Alexander Hood, Lord Bridport (1726-1814), who became Rear Admiral of the White and one of Howe's flag officers during the American Revolution. -- Henderson, Ralph, comp.
