The old ministers, Sandwich, Rugby, North, Mansfield, and Germain are driven into hell by the new ministers, Thurlow, Conway, Camden, Barre, Burke, Richmond, Rockingham, Fox, Wilkes, and Bying. Each makes a statement about his opposition in the past years. Two devils welcome them to the pit. One holds a bottle to tempt Sandwich, and another grabs Germain. Above the two parties, a winged angel flies holding "The Mirror of Truth" to chase the old ministers away. Fleeing the scene is Bute riding on the back of a witch.
BM Cat. of political and personal satire, no. 5982 attributes the engraving to Lord Townshend
The print also appeared in The Westminster Magazine, April 1782.
Two copies. The larger sheet was exhibited at Anderson House in a display of satirical prints, caricatures, and political incorrectness in the age of reason, May 14 - September 30, 2002. Stored as matted. On this copy someone has penciled the names of the ministers in the margin below the title to create a legend.
