Addressed to Senator Lacepede, Grand-Chancellier and Grand-Officier, Legion d'honneur, the petition presents von Closen's military and civil service record, including the "Ordre pour le Merite et de la Societe americaine de Cincinnatus" which he gave up shortly afterward out of respect for the new laws which abolished all orders in France.
