Livingston's regiment left Quebec in early May 1776. By 24 August, Livingston was in New York. On 10 Aug. the Continental Congress had ordered $59,962 be paid Canadian officers and men who had retreated into the colonies with the army. This payroll may have been prepared as a part of the subsequent reporting process.
