Note
Four British cavalry regiments were numbered nineteen: Drogheda's Horse was formed in 1759 and renumbered 18 in 1763; the 19th Light Dragoons was raised for the American Revolution in 1779 and disbanded in 1783; the 23rd Light Dragoons, raised in 1781, was latre renumbered 19, and then served with distinction in India and the War of 1812 before being disbanded in 1822; and the 19th Hussars was created from the East India Commpany's 1st Bengal European Cavalry and existed to 1922 when it amalgamated with the 15th Hussars.
