A stately passenger barge, decorated with bunting and other patriotic symbols including an eagle, is rowed through New York harbor toward Murray's Wharf, with George Washington standing, his hat extended in his right hand toward the crowds on the many decorated vessels in the harbour as they wave flags and cheer. Rectangle.

This is illustration #18 in the series of 20 etchings by contemporary artists, issued in connection with the celebration of the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of George Washington by The George Washington Memorial Association, Inc. of New York. The series was intended to assist teachers in the development of lessons about Washington and his life.
