A portrait of Greene, head and shoulders, to the right, in uniform, in oval frame with loop and ribbon at the top resembling a miniature, is being held in the center by two Roman figures, an older gentleman in long robe representing a philosopher, to the left; and a military figure, representing Mars to the right. To the rear of each figure is a group of supporters. At the feet of the soldier are his instruments of war: including a sword and a shield. Below the portrait of Greene stands a cherubim raising a laurel wreath in each hand toward Greene. The scene takes place on the pedestal of an obelisk surrounded by a palmetto tree, representing his service in South Carolina which appears above the soldier and what appears to be a laural tree above the old man. The title appears on the base of the pedestal. Centered on the author line below the title it reads: "Tire de Cabinet du Roi de Pologne."
The first copy, on sheet 44 x 30 cm., was displayed as part of an exhibition at Anderson House titled "Rhode Island in the American Revolution" from October 17, 2000 through April 14, 2001.
The second copy on sheet 36 x x 25 cm. has accession number L2003G24. It was displayed as part of an exhibition at Anderson House titled "South Carolina in the American Revolution" from October 21, 2004 through April 9, 2005.
Nathanael Greene was an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of Rhode Island.
