On verso: Proof of the effectives; signed by Nathaniel Cushing and B. Hancock and sworn before John Glover, B. General who also signs.
Names 4 officers, 20 privates, 2 drum and fife.
Officers listed: Capt. Nathaniel Cushing, Lieut. Belcher Hancock, Lieut. Thomas Cushing, and Ensign Nathaniel Stone.
Cushing and Hancock were original members of the Society of the Cincinnati.
Cushing, a Capt. of the 1st Massachusetts Regiment in Jan. 1777, apparently continued to hold that rank when his regiment was assigned to the 2nd Massachusetts Brigade, in July 1777, as part of the Highlands Dept. In early 1779, the brigade was part of the Eastern Dept.
