Despite memorialists' claim, many British prisoners of the Convention Army remained in captivity until the end of the War--see Boatner, Encyclopedia. p. 276.
"... [Y]our memorialists were made Prisoners of War, one on the 19th September, the other on the 11th Oct. last and (as they believe) the only British Officers of ... Burgoyne's army taken before the Convention now unexchanged [and] ... are in a very indifferent state of health ... and very desirous of being exchanged ... .
Naylor was captured at the battle of Saratoga; Weir at Bemis Heights.
