Historical Data
Charles René de Fourcroy de Ramecourt (1715–1791) was a French military engineer who entered the Corps of Engineers in 1736 and later became Director of Fortifications and a general officer of the corps. In 1779, during the American War of Independence, he prepared operational instructions for the engineers assigned to the army of the comte de Vaux during preparations for a projected invasion of England. He was a Grand Cross of Saint-Louis and a member of the Academy of Sciences.
