Note
Capt. MacDonough, whose flagship Saratoga was badly mauled by the British, nevertheless forced the H.M.S. Confiance and three other vessels to surrender. The scene shows the battle in progress on Lake Champlain with the towns people on the shore line watching as British officers on horseback leave the scene. Rectangle.
Framed with gold burnished & French lined mats inside 2.5", 22k gold leaf frame, fluted panel, inner beading and egg & dart running on the top edge.
