Note
A young Lafayette, full-length to the left, in uniform, seated at small round table which holds a quill pen in an inkwell and a book, legs crossed with his sword belted on his left hanging toward the floor next to the point where his left glove is lying. He is holding diagram of a fortification in his right hand. A drum, upon which his hat is lying and banner are behind him.
