Bust, to left, head in profile, in uniform, wearing a hat, in oval with 1/16 border. [C. A. Jacobi Type] The Society of Cincinnati eagle and the Ordre of St. Louis are worn on the left lapel. Stipple. Artist and publication place and date appear immediatly below the border. Below the title it reads: "Franzosischer Feldherr 1792 No. 1385."
The artist created this engraving as well as a number of other miniature engravings between 1790-1810.

Lafayette was an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati from France.
