Full-length portrait, seated, facing front. He is holding his left hand in his vest just above the waist and his right hand rests on top of a cane. He is seated next to a desk on the right which is covered with books and papers. A stack of books are on the floor and a foot stool is on the left. The setting reflects the fact that Jonathan Trumbull served as Governor of Connecticut during the revolution. The title is a facsimilie signature.

Four copies. The copy stored as matted was displayed in an exhibition titled: Connecticut in the American Revolution, on display in Anderson House from October 27, 2001 through May 11, 2002.
