Acknowledges receipt of McHenry's letter of intelligence to Baltimore merchants: "The channel thro'which you obtained it is deem'd a partial one, hence gallican gilding is supected."
War news: "If the British Fleet shou'd be handsomely beaten ... what beautiful prospects open with the vernal season.... Arnold's fall inevitable, Cornwallis's probably, Clinton's not impossible."
Offers to send medicine to the ailing McHenry and mentions the death at Boston of Dr. [Isaac] Foster
Context: McHenry, as aide-de-camp to Lafayette, had access to "intelligence" forwarded to Baltimore; and J. B. Cutting was at the time Apothecary General with access to medicines.
