Signed on p. 4: W. Jackson.
Petition requesting that revolutionary war veterans recieve half-pay for life, as originally contracted by the United States government.
William Jackson was an original member of the PA Society & served as Secretary General (succeeding Henry Knox) from 1799 to his death in 1828. In 1818, on behalf of his fellow veteran officers of the Revolutionary War, he headed an unsuccessful effort to lobby Congress to grant them half-pay for life.
