Massachusetts offers twenty dollars and a clothing ration "as a bounty to each non-commissioned officer and private soldier who shall Inlist to serve for the term of three years." Each enlistee shall annually receive two "linnen hunting shirts, two pair of overalls, a leathern or woolen waistcoat with sleeves, one pair of breeches, a hat or leather cap, two shirts, two pair of hose, and two pair of shoes ..." And further, if those who enlist serve until the close of the war they shall receive one hundred acres of land.
