Kendall was a British naval officer who served in America during the Seven Years' War & American Revolution; theses are three British navy logbooks of his service in America with the Royal Navy during the revolutionary war.
[Logbook 1]. "Journal of the H. H. Ship Princess Royal, Admiral Hon. J. Byron, from June 9th 1778 to 12th Augst. 1778. Voyage from Plymouth to Halifax N. S.": logbook of the flagship of the British fleet sent to engage the French naval forces in North America covers their two month voyage from Plymouth, eventually landing in New York.
[Logbook 2]. "Log of H. M.S. Sphinx, Feb. 15th to March 27, 1779": filled-in printed forms documents activities patrolling the southern end of the Chesapeake Bay.
[Logbook 3]. "Log of H. M. S. Rainbow, Capt. Kendall from April 1, 1780 to July 16, same year": Bound dos-a-dos with the first logbook, this volume covers sailing from New York to South Carolina and the ship's participation in the siege of Charleston.
