Sir Henry Clinton's extensively annotated copy of Charles Stedman's History of the Origin, Progress, and Termination of the American War. Clinton's manuscript annotations appear on more than eighty pages of the first volume and on three maps, commenting on military operations at Boston, Sullivan's Island, New York, Ticonderoga, Saratoga, and the Hudson Highlands. The annotations include Clinton's assessments of the conduct of Sir William Howe, Sir Peter Parker, Lord Cornwallis, John Burgoyne, Hugh Percy, Alexander Leslie, James Grant, Guy Carleton, and Clinton himself.
