Full calf binding with gold tooled spine; red leather title label, lettered in gold. Baron d'Espiard de Colonge was field marshal and director of the Guyenne Artillery. His treatise, published by his grand-nephew in 1846, 60 years after his death, was considered an important reference on French artillery under Louis XIV and Louis XV.
